Last week, we visited “Arcadia” to speak with cast members of the ABC series Resurrection, which sees a new episode titled “Afflictions” airing at 9PM (ET) tonight.
Our first interview that we’re sharing from the Twain’s Bar and Grill set is with Kurtwood Smith, the accomplished actor well known for his roles including Robocop, That 70’s Show, and the seventh season of 24. While some of our discussion was quite spoilery so we’re saving it for later, we did talk a bit about his character Henry Langston’s thoughts about Jacob and also, his reaction to his mother (Michelle Fairley) being back in his life.
“I think it would be devastating for him, having gone through it once already,” Smith said about the possibility of anything happening to Henry’s son, Jacob, again. “You know, usually you’d think that things like that might bring about a couple of different possibilities in terms of reaction, in terms of whether he would be devastated, or would he be less affected because he’d gone through it? I think in Henry’s case, because, as we saw last season, it took him most of the season to come to grips with it, and I think to lose it again would be too much for him, especially at his age and the time that he spent,” he continued.
Henry’s reaction to their mother being Returned is different from how his brother, Fred, is taking it. Might that perspective change once Henry learns what Margaret has been up to?
“We’ll find out,” he teased, “but not for a while.”
“At this point, since he had gone through it with Jacob, he’s less concerned about how the Returned relates to the previous persona of the individuals, so he’s much more accepting of Margaret, and then things change. So, he supports her, and is so excited. It makes him so happy. It’s the happiest that we really see him in the show,” he said.
Of course, this can’t end well. “Yes,” he admitted. “But then, that makes good drama, right?”
