Reign Intel: What’s Coming Up For “Mash?”

We just returned from a Q&A and screening for the May 1 episode of Reign, which is called “Higher Ground.” Before the Q&A, we asked our fans on Twitter what they would like to know, and we received an overwhelming amount of requests asking what’s coming up for “Mash” – the pairing between Mary (Adelaide Kane) and Bash (Torrance Coombs).

    So what’s happening?

Inquisition“They have a bond that is never really going to go away,” Executive Producer Laurie McCarthy told us this afternoon. “I feel like we write to that bond, and we honor it, but they’re moving in different directions now.”

Torrance Coombs also chimed in, admitting that here are those people in your life that you don’t really ever fully get over, but you do move on,”

“I don’t know. That’s going to be up to [the writers] where that goes, but nothing in particular is coming to a head. There’s other problems to go on, and Bash and Kenna are working things out themselves,” Coombs continued, before Adelaide Kane added that “there are many bigger and scarier things to take care of in the next couple of episodes.”

Another important relationship that will also be honored in the series is the “love between brothers,” McCarthy added. “We want to honor that as well.” Coombs had a few things to add about that notion. “To have Bash pursue Mary relentlessly at this point when she’s chosen Francis and when that’s a thing, I think that does a disservice to the relationship between the brothers. It really only became a reality when the legitimization thing happened, and when it was to save his life. That’s when it became sort of okay to pursue that,” he said.

Higher GroundWith all that said, Executive Producer Brad Silberling teases that – although they won’t give it away – he and McCarthy were both “moved to tears” by some work done together by Coombs and Kane by season’s end. “It’s incredible,” he said.

What are those scenes? We will have to watch and see. Reign airs Thursdays at 9PM on The CW. Here are some promotional photos from this week’s show:

Thanks for the scoop. I love Mary and Bash and I’m interested to see what scenes the writers are talking about. I hope that one day they’ll get back together!

      I miss Mash so much

I’m so glad the show is moving on from the triangle silliness. There are so many more stories to tell, and as a big fan of the brothers’ relationship, it’s such a relief to hear that they will be keeping that in the forefront from now on. Plus, Bash and Kenna have 1000 times more chemistry than Bash and Mary ever did. I love this show so much. Can’t wait to see what they have in store for us in the finale! Thanks for the scoop.

It’s a shame they got rid of them! I haven’t watched the show lately and that is no incentive to come back.

I have never liked mash. I am so glad the writers put an end to mary and bash. And really all the awards goes to the reign writers for putting an end to that useless triangle and also props for not continuing that typical “love triangle storyline” which get so old an boring. I like the reign better this way.

I really miss Mash too. I watch every episode in anticipation that there will be a glimmer of hope for Mary and Bash. I watched the show religiously since episode one but now that mash aren’t together, I’m kind of losing interest. Not sure if there are any other fans of the show in New Zealand or if anyone else even knows this show here. Bring back MASH pleeeeeeeeeeeease!!!!!
