A few weeks ago, we visited the sets of one of Fall TV’s best new entries, Red Band Society, which sees its last scheduled episode for the time being airing tonight at 9PM on FOX.
One of the highlights of that set visit was talking to Wilson Cruz and getting to ask him about the shout-out to his classic My So-Called Life character Rickie that we heard in an early episode of Red Band Society.
“It wasn’t in the script,” Cruz revealed. “That wasn’t the original voiceover, so I didn’t see it until, like everyone else, I was watching the show live that night, and I was expecting the line that I read in the script, and then Charlie said that line. First of all I thought it was pretty great; it was pretty brilliant. I thought it was well-done, and it was a good inside joke. It was kind of perfect, actually.”
You can see video from the interview below, where among the other things Wilson Cruz discusses is his favorite song to sing to Mandy Moore, Kenji’s relationship with Brittany, how distracted Kenji gets by Dr. McAndrew, and more.
Don’t miss a new episode of Red Band Society tonight at 9PM on FOX!
