ABC Family premieres their new science fiction-powered procedural Stitchers on Tuesday, June 2, and starring in the series – which focuses on a young woman recruited into a covert government agency to be ‘stitched’ into the minds of the recently deceased – is the talented Emma Ishta.
Her character, Kirsten, is special herself, as she has a condition called “temporal dysplasia” which takes away her ability to comprehend the passage of time. “She doesn’t feel time passing, and every moment feels like deja vu, as if it’s already been and already happened,” Ishta explained to us recently on the set of the show. “It also affects her ability to emotionally connect with other people, and also with herself, really; her own emotions. So, she can be a little standoffish. She doesn’t necessarily understand what other people are going through. She doesn’t even necessarily understand what she’s going through, which I think becomes apparent as we get through the season,” she teased.
Playing a role like Kirsten and being a part of Stitchers is very exciting for the actress. “I am very excited about strong female characters, and there are so many in our show, and it’s awesome for boys and girls and men and women to see that,” she enthused. “I’m really excited about it being the first procedural on ABC Family, and it’s also really funny, so I just hope that people are going to love it as much as we have loved making it,” she said.
