We spoke with cast and crew members from FOX’s Alcatraz at last week’s Wondercon convention in Anaheim, and during that time we spoke briefly with the series leads, Sarah Jones (Rebecca Madsen) and Jorge Garcia (“Doc” Soto), about what to expect from Monday night’s season finale. The finale brought the production back to San Francisco, a place that Jones said she “loved.”
“We have a really good thing going, where any time I show up, the weather is just perfect. So, San Francisco and I have a really good relationship,” Jones joked. Jorge agreed with her assessment. “When we went to San Francisco, Sarah suddenly opens up like a flower. She loves it there! She was like ‘I’m walking through parks all day!’ It was great,” he said.
“When I read the finale, I was excited,” Jones said. “I thought it was brilliant. I love that we’re doing the Bullitt chase.
I just thought it was the right way to end this season, and the right finale to the beginning, basically. The beginning chapters of Alcatraz.” Will things change for Rebecca and Doc now that they’ll be learning more about her grandfather, Tommy Madsen? “It’s going to change in a lot of ways,” Sarah teased.
“As far as Doc, I think his big thing is that he can only go through so many things that he thinks are true, and finding out that they’re not true after everything that he’s studied about Alcatraz. All of these people are dead, and then you find out they’re not dead. That can only happen so many times before he kind of starts like ‘Okay. Let me guess. This guy’s back and he’s alive and he’s doing whatever.’ You kind of start seeing that change in him. He has a little moment where he has to take the lead himself about what he thinks about what is right to do in the situation,” Garcia added.
