Deadline is reporting that Kimmy Shields (Big Little Lies) has been cast a series regular on The CW’s beauty pageant drama Insatiable. She’ll be playing Nonnie, the best friend of a bullied high schooler who finds a new source of life in pageanting.
From Dexter‘s Lauren Gussis and executive produced by former American Idol host Ryan Seacrest, Insatiable tells the story of Patty (Debby Ryan), a formerly overweight wallflower who lost 70 pounds after breaking her jaw. Still emotionally scarred from years of vicious bullying by her peers, she gets involved with a disgraced lawyer-turned-beauty pageant coach in hopes of exacting vengeance of all those who made her life miserable for so long.
In addition to her role on the HBO drama, Shields has appeared on the likes of Chasing Life, The Last Ship, and The Middle. She joins a cast that includes Dallas Roberts (The Good Wife), Sarah Colonna (Chelsea Lately), and Michael Provost (Six).
Insatiable is one of six CW pilots currently in contention for 2017-18, joining fantasy drama Searchers, cancer dramedy Life Sentence, DC-verse entrant Black Lightning, military conspiracy thriller Valor, and soapy reboot Dynasty. Decisions on which projects will make the final cut for next season should come down in early May.
