Deadline is reporting that Covert Affairs alum Christopher Gorham has signed on for a series regular role on The CW’s beauty pageant drama Insatiable. He’ll be playing pageant dad Barnum, the courtroom nemesis of former lawyer (and current pageant coach) Bob (Dallas Roberts).
From Lauren Gussis (Dexter) and executive produced by former American Idol host Ryan Seacrest, Insatiable tells the story of Patty (Debby Ryan), a formerly overweight social outcast who lost 70 pounds after breaking her jaw. Armed with a new sense of confidence and the emotional scars from years of bullying, Patty seeks out Bob in hopes of exacting vengeance upon those who made her life miserable for years. However, Bob doesn’t realize when he takes Patty on as a client the hell he’s about to unleash upon the world.
In addition to his role on the USA drama, Gorham has appeared on the likes of 2 Broke Girls, The Magicians, and Ugly Betty. He joins a cast that includes Arden Myrin (Suburgatory), Kimmy Shields (Big Little Lies), and Sarah Colonna (Chelsea Lately).
Insatiable is one of six CW pilots currently in contention for 2017-18, joining DC-verse entrant Black Lightning, cancer dramedy Life Sentence, military thriller Valor, soapy reboot Dynasty, and fantasy drama Searchers. Decisions on which of the six make it to series, as well as which of The CW’s current shows will end their runs this season, should come down in early May.
