Deadline is reporting that Jon Collier (Bones) has stepped in as showrunner on upcoming CW drama In the Dark. He’ll be filling in for creator Corinne Kingsbury, who had two pilots picked up to series for 2018-19; she’ll be focusing on CBS comedy Fam, starring Nina Dobrev.
From Kingsbury (Old School), In the Dark follows a blind woman who is the only “witness” to the murder of her drug-dealing friend. With the police not willing to accept her account of what happened, she sets out, along with trusted dog Pretzel, to find the real killer. The series focuses on the investigation, as well as this newfound detective’s colorful dating life and the job she hates at the guide dog school owned by her overprotective parents.
The series stars Austin Nichols (The Day After Tomorrow), Brooke Markham (Friend Request), Derek Webster (Stargate), Kathleen York (The OC), Keston John (The Good Place), and Perry Mattfeld (Shameless). It was one of five new dramas picked up to series by The CW for 2018-19, including reboots of Charmed and Roswell, Originals spinoff Legacies, and Greg Berlanti-produced All American.
In addition to his time on Bones, Collier’s television credits include Monk, King of the Hill, and The Simpsons.
The CW’s 2018 fall schedule will be revealed Thursday, May 17th.
