For as much as the Bumblers wanted to track down Maddie and make her pay for deceiving them, there’s always been complicated feelings motivating their quest for justice. Maddie might’ve swindled Ezra, Jules, and Richard for everything they had, willing them to fall in love with her before disappearing into the ether, but she had to fall in love with each of them in order for the con to work; it’s understandable that, buried beneath the anger and sadness that their trauma produced, each of the Bumblers thinks there’s a chance that maybe there was more truth to their relationship than lie. That maybe there’s a chance that Maddie is closer to Ava, Alice, and/or CeCe than she might want to admit and that something real could come from all this deception. But could that last shred of hope that each hangs on to undo the bond that’s developed between them over the course of their travels?
On the series finale of Imposters, Ezra admits to Jules and Richard that he hooked up with Maddie. Granted, he regretted it from the morning after and they’re not exactly going to pick out China patterns anytime soon, given their most recent encounter by the Falls and whatnot, but he violated the code that the trio had been operating under since the beginning. Yet even with what are likely hurt feelings resulting from their own lingering love for Maddie, Richard and Jules are cool with it; some of that might be from wanting to be focused on the impending con, which they can’t accomplish if there’s any tension or mistrust between them, but it’s mostly due to the bonds of experience that’s been formed between them. Ezra, Jules, and Richard have had to lean on one another since their journeys converged and that sense of love is stronger than what any of them feel for the ghosts of ex-wives past.
But after everything that happened between Ezra and Maddie, including his knowledge that she wants to kill The Doctor rather than use him to barter for their collective freedom, will he give her up to Jules and Richard as a sign that he’s all in with them? And how will Maddie’s rogue efforts impact the Bumblers’ attempt to get out from under the FBI’s thumb once and for all?
The series finale of Imposters airs Thursday at 10:00 on Bravo. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the show may be shopped to Netflix after its first season posted strong numbers to go along with good international sales.
So #Imposters won’t be back for a 3rd season, at least on @bravotv. We’re all sad but such is life. We had a great run and I’m grateful for all of it. For now we’re talking to @netflix about picking the show up. If you’d like to see this happen, let @netflix know! #alwaysforward pic.twitter.com/uf8cgDH7Km
