When you fall in love with someone, you leave yourself vulnerable in a way that goes against natural instinct. It’s tough to let someone in, especially if you’ve had your heart broken before, and it takes meeting someone special in order to convince you to let down your guard enough to see if there could be something real there. While it might be easier to go through life without lowering your romantic defenses, thereby keeping your risk of getting a broken heart very low, it’s a more fulfilling existence to put your trust in someone and hope that they both reciprocate your feelings and take care of what’s most precious to you. There’s a middle ground between shutting yourself off from the world and giving your heart to anyone who bats their eyelashes nicely enough, which, one you find, can make sustaining a relationship that much easier. But what happens when the one you trusted with everything turns out to not be who you thought they were?
On the series premiere of Imposters, Ezra Bloom thinks he’s married his dream woman in kind, funny, ambitious Ava, whose smile lights up a room and whose warmth brings him comfort on those not so great days. Even though the two rushed into their marriage, they had the type of connection that made a crazy leap into the bonds of holy matrimony worth it and for the first few weeks of their marriage, things go great. There are presents and laughs and sex and everything good about the honeymoon afterglow of a marriage; however, what Ezra doesn’t know is that it was all a con. Ava lulled him into a false sense of security, picking up on what a genuinely good guy he is and how unsuspecting he would be of anyone trying to do a number on him, before clearing out his bank accounts and credit cards, leaving only a brief video message in her wake. But Ezra discovers that he’s not the only one Ava has done this to, so instead of wallowing in the resulting grief and anger, he dusts himself off and teams up with Ava’s other marks in order to bring her down once and for all.
The series premiere of Imposters is set to air Tuesday, February 7th at 10:00 on Bravo. You can check out a look at the first 11 minutes of the episode here.
