Hulu has released a recap of Harlots season one and in it, we see a longstanding rivalry get taken to the next level.
Season one of the period drama from Moira Buffini (Jane Eyre) and Alison Newman (EastEnders) focused on blue-collar brothel owner Margaret Wells (two-time Oscar nominee Samantha Morton) as she attempted to secure a comfortable financial future for herself, her two daughters, and each of the girls who work for her. That gets threatened by fellow madam Lydia Quigley (Oscar nominee Lesley Manville), whose history with Margaret makes their professional rivalry all the more personal.
In addition to Morton and Manville, Harlots stars Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey), Eloise Smyth (Fortitude), Danny Sapani (Penny Dreadful), and Kate Fleetwood (The Widower). The Leftovers alum Liv Tyler is set to join season two as Lady Isabella Fitzwilliam, an aristocratic social butterfly trapped in a loveless marriage who is being blackmailed by Lydia.
