Syfy has announced that well-received DC Universe animated series Harley Quinn will be making its cable debut starting May 3rd.
The first season will be broadcast across the first four Sundays in May, with the season finale set for May 24th. The second season, which premiered on the Warner Bros.-affiliated streamer earlier this month, is currently streaming.
Syfy has made a concentrated push into animation recently, led by its late night TZGZ lineup on Saturdays. The expansion into Sunday was made possible by promising ratings for TZGZ, which consists of Futurama repeats and lower-cost acquisitions like Gary and His Demons and The Cyanide & Happiness Show, and the network’s attempt to pare down its originals budget. Apart from Futurama, the only animated presence Syfy has had in recent years is Alien News Desk, a series featuring Will Forte and Heidi Gardner as the voices of alien news anchors Drexx Drudlarr and Tuva Van Void.
From Justin Halpern (iZombie), Patrick Schumacher (Surviving Jack), and Dean Lorey (Arrested Development), Harley Quinn follows the infamous DC supervillain as she breaks up with the Joker and attempts to join the Legion of Doom alongside Poison Ivy, Clayface, Doctor Psycho, King Shark, and Sy Borgman.
