Believe it or not… the Greatest American Hero might fly again.
The Stephen J. Cannell series, which starred William Katt, Robert Culp, and Connie Selleca, was a decent series; it was probably remembered more, though, for its iconic theme song.
Now, Deadline is reporting that Lego Movie writers Phil Lord & Chris Miller are executive producing a Greatest American Hero revival as a possible series for FOX, with Cannell’s daughter Tawnia McKiernan also as an executive producer. Rodney Rothman will be writing and executive producing the pilot, which sees the hero reinvented as an inner-city teacher named Isaac (what, is “Ralph” too 1981?). Like the original series, he discovers a suit that gives him abilities, but of course loses the instruction manual.
Lord, Miller, and Rothman worked together recently on another Cannell classic franchise, 21 Jump Street, with the 22 Jump Street film.
The new Greatest American Hero has a “put pilot commitment” at the moment. Would you watch? Leave some comments below.
