Yesterday at the CW’s executive session at the TCA Summer 2011 Press Tour in Beverly Hills, CA, CW Network President Mark Pedowitz was asked if another superhero project might be in development for the network now that Smallville has come to an end after several successful seasons.
“We are looking next year to do superheroes if the right superhero comes to be,” he says. “Having Warner Bros. as one of our partner companies and their having DC Comics makes it very intriguing to find the right superhero to go there,” he adds.
As for Raven, which was talked about last year, Pedowitz said “that was before I got to the company.”
Hopefully The CW can and will use the resources from DC Comics to develop something good and TV-ready. A CW take on Wonder Woman would be fantastic, and, hey, once Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy is over, a Smallville-like take on Bruce Wayne would be interesting. The possibilities, really, are endless.

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE WONDER WOMAN OR A JUSTICE LEAGUE SERIES WITH THE ACTORS FROM SMALLVILLE, WE WERE ALWAYS LEFT WITH WANTING TO SEE MORE OF THE LEAGUE. I WISH SOMEONE WOULD BRING HEROES BACK TOO!!!!!!!
would tom welling does another project for samllville again
i would want to see tom welling and kristin kreuk team up again.and clark end up with lana in the future smallville movie..or the continuation of smallville..i’m pleasing
My first choice would be Batgirl if BQM was involved. Or Nightwing. We’ve had a decade of Superman. Now we need a decade (haha) of something from the Batverse.
Wonder Woman Defenitely or maybe even Lois Lane show?
Nightwing
Although it is not a DC comic, a Smallville-like take on a young Matt Murdock heightening his sensory skills after becoming blind, eventually becoming Daredevil.
I hate to see Smallville even go but I say Justice League series…And I would luv the chance to play WW!
please pick erica durance and tom welling they make charater to watch they have alot fanbase comic
I really liked the Wonder Woman idea, but maybe The CW should try Aquaman again. The pilot was really good but since smallville was running it wasn’t the right time. Or you could bring in Batman or Green Arrow. And this isn’t a DC Comic but maybe an X-Men or X-Men related tv show.
Maybe Flash or i’d like to see Aquaman but without Jutin Hartley as Orin…
Smallville was very popular, but it was also very expensive – the longer people play roles the more they are paid – and at the end of the day, Smallville was only pulling 2-3 million viewers near the end there. So I think a Superman thing with Tom and Erica is on the “surely not happening” folder, especially with the new Superman movie coming out in 2013. If Smallville still got 7-9 million viewers I’d understand – although they might not want to play the same thing anymore – but I’m perfectly happy with moving on. Smallville had 10 years, a lot longer than most shows… I don’t think we need to keep going with that.
Daredevil and the X-Men would both be fantastic for TV, but I think the CW will stick mostly with DC because Warner Bros. owns DC and they’re corporate “partners”… meanwhile, ABC/Disney owns Marvel, so it’d be more likely to see something there.. though I’d love it.
How about a series about the Legion?
I’d be thrilled to see a Batman, Justice League or even Teen Titans done. I watched Smallville for all 10 years and I still love the show to death but if Tom and Erica have no desire for the roles anymore people shouldn’t force them into doing so. Granted I would love to see them work together again their on screen chemistry was perfect.
my suggestion is this:
Teen Titans with the cast members from Smallville.
Thus far we already have, Cyborg (leader/trainer), Conner Kent (power house), impulse (speed) and Mia (ranged)
All we need is a Raven, Beastboy and Starfire…
Ones that would be great to have but really unlikely is Robin (tim drake) and Wonder Girl
I think it would be awesome… but very very unlikely becasue we have the animated series going on now that is basically the teen titans…
I vote for Wonder Woman. Seems like it be the perfect fit for it.
Would love to see some type of spin-off of Smallville in the near future whether it be a new series to take place after the finale or a tv movie. Tom and Erica are both great together they bring life to Clark and Lois.
While Smallville was the best show around nothing from the Smallville universe should be done. That’s right. No Green Arrow, no Justice League, no Aquaman, nothing from Smallville. Why? Because it would just be Smallville all over again and that would be boring. Wpnder Woman shouldn’t be done either. There was a reason why the expected Wonder Woman TV show fell through. Batman doesn’t need to be done either. While it would make a good show, there’s reallly not much you can do with Batman. His story had already been well established. Green Lantern would be good to do, but only if it isn’t suckish like the movie was. Whoever they pick it needs to be somebody everyone knows, but who has many different storylines from which to draw from and can be molded in such a way that his or her show becomes a success in the way Smallville was.
Come on, develope Wonder Woman or maybe Wonder Girl if you wants to go through teenagers
Awesome, I’d love to see a Green Arrow or Wonder Woman Series. Justice League would rock or maybe a Batman (Bruce Wayne).
I would like to see an eleventh season of Smallville!
I think a spinoff having to do with Green Arrow would be great! The whole relationship between Oliver and Chloe would be great and same with having their kid (presumed in the Smallville finale). I would definitely like to see a spinoff of Smallville. I miss the show way too much and need another show to fill in that hole
If they were to do anything with Green Arrow, he’d surely be with Black Canary from the comics… a “Chlollie” show would do nothing but ensure that I won’t be watching.
what about supergirl bring back Laura Vandervoor to play supergirl because at the end of smallville s10 e20 she left for the future so maybe they can now feature superman now that smallville as finished and maybe sometimes tom welling can pop up in some episode’s as superman i think its a great idea
SUPERGIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LAURA VANDERVOORT!!!! LEGION!!!!!!! COME ONNNNNNN!!!
Here are my suggestions: Nightwing, Robin, Cheshire, Starfire (the one in Teen Titans), Adam Strange, Green Lantern, Jakeem Thunder, Huntress, Nightshade, Captain Atom, or Capatin Marvel. I realize a few of these characters have ties to Superman, but that doesn’t mean the charcters from Smallville have to be in the show.
Going with the whole Bruce wayne into batman would be very interesting
The obvious ideas would be Batman or Nightwing. Those would be the easiest and probably have the most chance at success. I personally like to see an Aquaman, Teen Titans, or a decent attempt at a more traditional Green Lantern (money aside).
I would also love to see Tom Welling come back to T.V. He should talk to George Lucas about getting on the that rumoured Star War series. Tom as lost jedi. It could work.
Tom as a Jedi would be cool!
i would love to see supergirl but this time with the actuel suit and even stargirl
I would love to see a Wonder Woman or Batman Smallville type series. Also, why not a Justice League series – we’ve already seen Green Arrow, Impulse, Cyborg, Black Canary, Aquaman, etc. Also, how about some secondary characters like Batgirl and Robin?
I already miss Smallville and would love to see a Justice League/Society spin-off with the original Smallville cast.
Beast Boy. i think it would be really interesting to see what they could do with him
I say bring back Laura Vandervoort and make a Supergirl show as a Smallville spin-off.
I would love to see Green Arrow/Oliver Queen and Watchtower/Chloe Sullivan. These two are wonderful and amazing together. I love them and of course with Justin and Allison, they have the perfect chemistry.
Smallville was very successful and While i would love to see them do another show out of the Superman universe i doubt they will. Furthermore if they do I doubt you will see TW in it unless the show is something like Supergirl or Batman and he shows up for one or two episodes.
I think however that TW is burnt out on the CK and Superman angle. Though i thought i remember him saying if he was approached to do the reboot for Superman he would not turn it down right away which means he liked the role enough to at least consider it.
Larry’s idea on a spinoff Legion of Superheros show, I want to watch that right now! Plenty of opportunities for Smallville guest stars. The starring cast would be..c’mon Ryan Kennedy, James Marsters, Laura Vandervoot and Eric Martsolf.
everyone, all your ideas are awesome for a potential c.w. “superhero” series! great ideas! i myself would definitely love to see c.w. go back and work on that “bruce wayne” series that was shelved before “smallville” occured. seriously, it’s about time for another batman t.v. series! a wonder woman t.v. series would also be great! as long as it has bridget regan(from “legend of the seeker”)as diana/wonder woman, and the original wonder woman herself, lynda carter, as hippolyta, queen of the amazons and mother of wonder woman, a great cast, crew, story, and sticks close to the d.c. comics canon as much as possible even though it will be a reinterpretation, then i’m sold big time! also, justice league, aquaman, teen titans, and among others are great for another c.w. “superhero” series. the possiblities are endless…
oh, and legion of superheroes as well! heck i wouldn’t mind a “smallville” spin-off series!
I definitely would NOT like to see a Green Arrow?Chlollie spinoff. Pleae leave it in the SV world where it belongs. The writers already insulted the GA character by not have end up wit BC. If there is going to be a GA spin-offf, BC SHOULD be his LI not some made up character and with Justin Hartley as GA , he was perfect for the role. However I definitrely wouldn’t mind seeing a Legion spin-off with Clark and Lois’ daughter/son being part of the Legion.
A green arrow show with a new actor and a new cast. The chollie fluffy stuff, haven’t got a chance ever, it never had. Its Green arrow and Black canary from now on, and anyone from the comics of course, bring on Mia, Connor, Roy, Green arrow mythology has a rich history and will make a good. they can be like the “batfamily of CW”, DC isnt going to loosen its strings on Batman any time soon IMO. Would love young justice spin off too, but it may be expensive.
Wonder woman, I think she has already failed enough for one year.
A justice society of america would be the only great choice for a spin off of smallville.Absolute justice is one of the greatest episodes ever. First season would be about a new dr fate, finding the other members….hourman, wildcat, alan scott,, flash (jay), and new characters like power girl. obsedian, atom smasher, and mr terrific. Then have the resurrection of hawkman and hawkgirl. The villians would be checkmate, suicide squad and black adam.
I would to see the Batman series, after all it had to be the original project before Smallville. Now I think it could be done!!!
It would also be nice a spin-off of Smallville with Supergirl and the Legionary!!!!
A Green Arrow spinoff with Justin as the lead would be remarkable! There’s so much more that could be explored. As much as I would LOVE seeing a much-deserved spinoff, a BC pairing would most likely ensure I wouldn’t watch. However, keeping him paired with Chloe would defintiley ensure I’d watch!
Personally, I would LOVE to see a GA spin-off. It’s a great idea, on Smallville GA was amazing, and so cool. The actions scenes were so much fun to watch!!!! I think that it would be perfect, and JH plays him wonderfully.
There is so much to explore with him, and I can guarantee that if you have some people from SV guest star, say Erica Durance, or Tom Welling, (like a cross over, in a way) that ratings will sky rocket!!!!!
Also, I think you should highly consider doing Chloe/Oliver as the romance, as what happened on SV. Even give us a prequel, like thing where it starts before GA/Oliver came to SV, and as time progresses we get some mentions that align with SV.
PLEASE, NO BLACK CANARY ROMANCE. It really just is not a solid relationship, and I know the whole comics thing, but change is happening in the comics, and why not for GA?
Personally…Truely there’s only One True “Hero” Superman, and at this point I would love to see the next smallville spin-off to be called…”METROPOLIS”
With the one and only Iconic couple of our generation “Clark Kent & Lois Lane” idk… Tom Welling and the beautiful Erica Durance and I must say with the best on screen Chemistry that has ever grace our screen’s.
Come on CW you know this makes sence…There journey has just began, there’s no end to there Destiny.
“Bring-it-on”
If Justin Hartley and Allison Mack are available, a Green Arrow spin-off keeping the Chloe/Oliver couple would be awesome.
If that’s not possible then a Justice Society of America spin-off would be cool!
Green Arrow spin off, with his main love interest, best friend, and best partner the Black canary. One of the best female superheroes of DC and a DC fan favourite. An already established source of rich and great stories to choose from. The Arrow team and family also is a good supporting cast with the Arsenal, Speedy and Conner hawke.
There is no doubt about that, who is Green Arrow number one lady, Dc knows it, I know it.
There is no place in Green Arrow and DC for a certain copycat and unoriginal blonde.
I would love to see Green Arrow with continuation of the Chloe and Oliver relationship from Smallville. They are the reason I started watching Smallville 2 seasons ago. But I was disappointed in the CW and Smallville with Chloe and Oliver’s Scenes in the finale. They wrote Chloe to be in the process of walking out the door without a hug or good bye to Oliver. Oliver had to chase her down. Then, they wrote Chloe. with a child and no mention of Oliver at all. Before this Failure, I was thinking about finding another show on the CW I liked after end of Smallville, but after this I went back to basic cable..
I would love a GA spinoff, if it was a GA closer to the SV one especially with Chloe, having Justin and Allison on it, that amazing chemistry. That I would definitely watch. Not a fan of the comics version of GA and his relationship with BC, that I would not watch.
Well honestly, I didn’t plan to watch other CW shows after Smallville ended but if by some miracle there is a Green Arrow spin-off with Justin as the lead, count me in! (NEED.JUSTIN.ON.MY.TV.ASAP!!!!!!!!!) And personally even more than GA spin-off I would like to see a GAWT spin-off. *__* Oliver and Chloe were EPIC on Smallville. I loved their Green Arrow/Watchtower dynamic and would watch pretty much anything with these two characters. Thanks! :-)
Just get tom and erica and make a Metropolis tv show, like TNAOS
you just have to put in that contract that Tom Welling HAS TO WEAR the suit now even if he doesn’t want to,
Yeah, if they do a Green arrow show it’d be with Black Cannary there’s no way DC would allow them to keep on destroying Green arrow, it’d be too much responsability. I’d watch.
Tom and Erica could guest star.
Another idea I liked would be a show about the future Legion of superheroes, a descendant of lois and clark could be there.
I’d love a Chloe and Oliver spin off, with much GA’s action. And with the other members of the League coming up, a busiest show, with romance, action. The participation of several heroes and Chloe and Oliver commanding the adventures.
Green arrow spin off with Chloe would rock. They have a great dynamic and chemistry. they really work together. Action, love, heroes success!!!
i would a new series called metropolis with my beautiful couple tom and erica
i would like a new series called metropolis with my beautiful couple tom and erica
I would love to see a WONDER WOMAN show done on the CW network ….
I would love to see Tom Welling Guest star periodically as Superman/Clark Kent . Kinda a passing of the baton to WW in many ways in her show .
Give the show a Buffy the vampire slayer meets Xena Warrior Princess set in a Smallville,Gossip Girl type of world .
Appearances by Justin Hartley as Oliver Quinn can give a connection to smallville but overall its WW show so it has to have its own feel .
Add Wonder Girl down the line as character helping diana understand the world of man .
Add drama ,mythology and Superheroes an you got yourself a winner.
For this show to really get some new juices going you gotta get Joss Whedon to executive produce the show .
He understand creating a strong woman character for tv for men to root for and women to admire .
I’m EXTREMELY partial to J. Michael Straczynski’s “Rising Stars”. JMS has some experiences showrunning a limited-duration series, and successfully; and although the title’s narrative progresses pretty rapidly, there’s more than enough possibilities unexplored there, particularly in the Pederson / childhood arc, to warrant a several-seasons’ long progression, as the bemused people of a small town gradually become aware of, to celebrate, and then to fear, the incredible powers their children possess…and area possessed by. Smart scripters, following the successfully formula of “Lost”, would figured out a way to pursue both, related but not actually parallel, narratives at once: the Pederson story of discovery and wonder, and the later, nastier saga of the fully grown and frigjteningly capable Specials, who hold the power of life and death — possibly, over us all — in their hands. This “Watchmen”-by-way-of-“4400”, with parallels extending to the WWII Japanese internment protocols and even to the U.S. Civil War, might be just what’s CW’s looking for and, if done properly (and with an adequate cast and budget), could well end up being regarded as one of the all-time genre classics.
GREEN ARROW with the love of his life , one and only BLACK CANARY, the Iconic couple that will always be, everywhere from animation, tv shows and movies. The BS about chloe/chlollie will never work anywhere, it was poorly written, contrived and done for pandering purposes, see for yourselves, the evidence is there on DVD. The most hated character of smallville , who almost destroyed a superman show single handedly, will not pull you the numbers you want!.
CW you are listening, Green Arrow comics is the right stop for you. Do it right like the way Smallville started, and it will work like a charm.
Would love an Aquaman show or Green Arrow, Justice league too. Recasts needed and a whole new cast of characters.
Under no circumstances should the abomination that is Chloe Sullivan be allowed in any comic TV show, its over she should stay in Smallville where she belongs. Real comic characters will take over from here.
Wonder Woman played by Erica Durance.
She’s already Lois Lane… the characters are so major I wouldn’t want to see the same actress playing Lois Lane and Erica Durance. Not to mention I don’t particularly think of her as Wonder Woman. I think it should be someone younger.
what abought a superboy spin off or maybe a batman show that would be awesome. or u could go with a night wing tv show.
I vote for a Justice League (with the same cast from Smallville) spin off or The Flash, not Batman, not Green Arrow (with Chloe and/or Vlack Canary), not The Green Lantern, maybe Wonder Woman (not with Erica cu that is just the stupidest thing I’ve heard of)
Im glad some of you agreed that the whole chloe/oliver relationship was just terrible. I thought they had horrible chemistry and the whole thing was just so unrealistic i would literally skip over scenes of their “romance”. I would LOVE to see a justice league or legion spin off and the same actors/actresses would be great!! Even if Tom and Erica could only guest star that would still be an amazing show. (also hoping for bruce wayne!!)
I would love to see a superhero show that would allow us to see inside the person’s head, like they did Clark on Smallville. When the camera would zoom and the music played you could feel what he was feeling and that drew you into the character. They stopped doing that after season 5. We need to really to feel the character. So whatever you do, please let us feel for this character.
I’d like to see a Martian Manhunter series starring Phil Morris, who played the character on Smallville. The Last Son of Mars, superpowered and immortal, now on earth, works for the Police department as a sort of Shaft-with-superpowers. As a super cop the Manhunter is quite serious, but among his friends, especially those who know his true identity, he takes himself less seriously and can be quite self deprecating. Do this character with comedy and you would have TV gold. A superman from Mars? Mars had people? “OK, we lived in the channels, alright? It’s a long story!” A Smallville spin-off starring the guy who was a semi-regular on both Smallville and Seinfeld (as legendary lawyer Jackie Chiles).
I would like too see a Green Lantern series or a even a Deadman series would be excellent.
I’d suggest a Question (Vic Sage) show, it wouldn’t be heavy on effects. Can be done in the style of a detective show, a “kung fu” zen style of peace through violence, or a normal guy dealing with the weird. Could have cameos of other DC/Charlton heroes, etc. But it would be new viewer friendly (they wouldn’t need a whole lot of DC knowledge to get it, the character has a mask that makes his face llok “blank” and is named The Question).
i really like batman but watching a show about him becoming batman would suck. what would it be about!!!!! 5 seasons of him trianing to become batman. be real
They actually did propose a young Bruce Wayne show before Smallville – http://www.kryptonsite.com/brucewayne – and I think they actually had several years’ worth of story. Just because he’s not Batman doesn’t mean he couldn’t stop crimes. :-) But it’s not happening anyway, so I guess it doesn’t matter. I think it would have been great.
I’d like to see a Connor Kent spin off. I didn’t read much of the Superboy comics, but I believe the Con-El version of the character ends up in Hawaii and has his own cast of supporting characters. I think that’d be really neat. It could have that same early-years-of-Smallville feel, but with new characters and in a new setting. It’s far enough that we don’t expect to see Smallville characters on the show every week, but an occasional guest star wouldn’t be out of the question.
Ok 1st of all I am the biggest smallville fan, probably ever. I got the tattoo on my arm to prove it. Now all of you that said the chemistry between chloe and oliver was terrible should be mentally examined… As far as a new superhero series that’s a tough one. I would love to see justice league but that will never happen cause of all kinds of different crap. Honestly like I said I’d love to see somekind of spinoff or new superhero thing, but guess what?! It’s never gonna work cause smallville was one of a kind thing that only works once….usually. If nothing else I got 10yrs of wonderful enjoyment from smallville and It’s something I will always hold dear to my heart. Even the worst parts of the show I still had some love for. I guess I’m just biased, but I don’t care that show helped me thru some of the toughest parts of my life and I will always hold onto smallville!
Don’t tell people they need to be “mentally examined” here Travis… Chlollie was devoid of chemistry, it’s a fact. Green Arrow/Black Canary all the way…
I would especially like to see a Wonder Woman series done. With Bridget Regan (Kahlan from Legend of The Seeker) as Wonder Woman! Though I heard there already was one in the works, just not on the CW and unfortunately with someone who isn’t Bridget Regan starring in it. The upside is that the actress is someone who should be familiar to Smallville fans. The girl who played the fake Kara sent by Jor-el in the third season finale of Smallville, though I forgot her last name. The actresses first name is Adrianna, I think. At least it didn’t go to someone horrible for the role. (example: Megan Fox, ugh no way!)
If I had to pick a show I would say The Huntress! She would be awesome! I don’t mean a dumb Huntress like they had in Birds of Prey, I mean the bad ass that she is in the comics!
Or Even a Batgirl, with Babs as Batgirl of course! Those would be awesome shows!
What I really want though is Wonder Woman, done right! Not like the stupid plot they had planed for NBC, but how WW is suppose to be!
yeah, i too would love to see a green arrow spin off with justin, never have seen a green arrow cool like that.but it needn’t be a green arrow series exclusively. the justice league itself would be very interesting, to me has been a lil thin in smallville. the jsa might be a bit old but definitely worth watching, too. maybe this time a full team approach instead of an individual one should be considered.
please, not batman again. still habe to puke because of those bad movies lately.
Personally I am a DC fan from way back, I see a lot of good and bad. GA spinoff while a good idea would go nowhere. Then NBC tries to do Wonder Woman and failed miserably. Black Canary was also attempted with the Birds of Prey they tries about 8 years ago and failed. The Legion of Superheroes idea could be interesting but it might just look like a Jetson’s throwback. I think you should do a Young Bruce Wayne in training, or a new Superboy show starring Conner from season 10. Bring back Martha to be a guide, Clark and Lois could make an appereance, Kara, GA, Chloe, the bounds are endless. Or a Booster Gold/ Blue Beetle team up spinoff would be fun too. Or even to try a different gender for the lead and bring in the female vote use Stargirl from seasons 9 and 10.
