AMC has announced that Walking Dead spin-off Fear the Walking Dead will premiere Sunday, August 23rd at 9:00, where it will be led into by a Walking Dead season six preview special. The 90-minute premiere will be broadcast simultaneously on AMC Global channels before reairing in local time zones during primetime.
“Robert Kirkman, Dave Erickson, and the fantastic writers, producers, cast and crew responsible for bringing Fear the Walking Dead to life have been hard at work creating an entirely distinct and compelling new series,” said Charlie Collier, AMC and SundanceTV president. “We join Fear before the rise of the zombie apocalypse with an interesting family dynamic as its entry point. After years of planning, that we are now only six weeks from sharing Fear with the world is truly exciting.”
From Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson, Fear the Walking Dead takes place at the beginning of the zombie apocalypse that occurred in The Walking Dead. The series focuses on a group of people struggling to understand what’s going on and desperately clinging to the lives they once led while adapting to the changes that are being forced upon them.
Fear the Walking Dead stars Kim Dickens (Treme), Cliff Curtis (Gang Related), Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince), Alycia Debnam-Cary (Into the Storm), and Elizabeth Rodriguez (Orange Is the New Black).
