The fourth day of the 2014 press tour is a bit shorter than other days have been so far. The day started with REVOLT and the new El Rey Network and included WGN, now with new programming.
Here are some highlights:
REVOLT
REVOLT showed off their attention aimed at younger people including their flagship music show REVOLT Live. Their primary focus is on their new programming rather than acquired material like other networks have coming around. Sibley Sholes and DJ Damage joined network president Andy Schoun on the panel.
El Rey Network
The new El Rey Network founded by Robert Rodriguez has a series based on the cult classic film From Dusk Till Dawn on the way, as well as Matador from Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. The network will be showing reruns of programs like The X-Files, Dark Angel and Starsky & Hutch – all that match the sensibility of Rodriguez. The panel was kicked off with an impressive “sizzle reel” that promises premium content directly into peoples’ homes.
From Dusk Till Dawn premieres on El Rey March 11.
Reality pioneer Mark Burnett came up next, to present Lucha Libre wrestling to the El Rey network.
WGN America
WGN America brought out Bloody Marys, and introduced their first original series Salem, starring Seth Gabel, Shane West, Janet Montgomery, and Ashley Madekwe, taking a different story on the Salem witch trials. Gabel tells that “every character has something to hide” that will add into the crescendo that is Salem. Look for more on Salem here soon.
