Harold Gould, an actor best known for his roles as Miles Webber in The Golden Girls and as Rhoda’s father in Rhoda, has passed away. The cause of death was prostate cancer.
Gould’s career spanned many decades, with series regular and guest starring appearances on a number of shows. He even starred in the pilots for Happy Days and That Girl before being replaced by other actors.
My personal favorite role of Gould’s, though, is Martin Morgenstern on Rhoda. He had to be the straight man to Nancy Walker’s very powerful Ida character and did it perfectly. When Ida and Martin were gone from the show, the series suffered quite a bit.
Harold Gould was 86.
