What does Lionel want?

I think Lionell has finally become good. Unless, he's secretly changing his mind.

In an episode last season we saw Lionell tell Martha to shoot him, that he will be the one that should die, so that she can raise her son to be good and that he was contemplatively regretful of the way that he raised Lex- to be bad.

I noticed in this episode at the dinner table when Clark said he's thankful for his father, Lionel looked upset. And I think Clark actually wanted to say: "I'm thankful I'm an alien from another planet with amazing gifts." Lol.
