  • Hellboy (2018)

The reboot which was originally going to be titled Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen is now simply titled Hellboy and is scheduled to start filming this fall with a release sometime in 2018.

Here's what is known so far:

    - David Harbour (Stranger Things) has been cast in the title role.
    - Ian McShane has been tapped to play adoptive father, Professor Broom
    - Milla Jovovich is in final negotiations to play the main villain, The Blood Queen.
    - Sasha Lane (American Honey) is also in final negotiations to join the cast playing Alice Monaghan. In the comic books, Hellboy rescues Alice from the fairies that kidnapped her.
    - And just today Ed Skrein (Deadpool) was reportedly cast as Major Ben Daimio, a rugged military member of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense.
    - It was also reported today that the reboot would NOT be an origin story.

Shouldn't this be in the other Comic book movies thread?

I liked the previous two movies hopefully the reboot is also good.

I forgot about the "other comic book/superhero" threads; my eyes go directly to either the Marvel or DC threads.

      Anyway, in a casting update...

Looks like Ed Skrein has decided to exit the movie after an outcry over his casting.

"Representation of ethnic diversity is important, especially to me as I have a mixed heritage family," the actor wrote in a statement one week after he joined the film.

First official look at David Harbour as Hellboy:

He looks fantastic; just the image tells you that this is going to be a darker take.

I saw it over the weekend. It was about the same as the first two with Ron Perlman. I don't see there being a sequel.
