All he said at the comic con panel is that he respect's what came before but as Days of Future Past involves a time travel then you can expect some things to change. And in an earlier interview he said he will try and "fix" thing's from X- Men 3.

Days of Future Past will take place 10 years after X Men 3:The Last Stand and in the past 10 years after First Class. That's what Bryan Singer has said.

funnily enough your not the only one. It seems to be a problem fora lot. I've not read many X men comics or Marvel comics in general but I think most want the Sentinels to look like the 90's animated cartoon version.

About the Sentinels they may look like that or there might be different versions of them with early years looking 1 way and the later years looking another way. of course we also dont know if they will be adding any effects to them.
