Is it just me or do the writer fail to understand two adjacent pages of their own script?

The Black King/Maxwell Lord warns Clark to stay where he is or else he wipes Lois' mind.

Then they talk for a bit.

And then Clark jumps through the machine and Maxwell is suddenly gone, luckily not making good on his thread (especially since Clark didn't tackle him down but rather destroy the machine).



Surely, somewhere in there must be a missing scene that explains that mess?
