Halle Berry stars in a new CBS midseason drama titled Extant which premieres tonight (July 9) at 9PM on the network.
The pilot is directed by Allen Coulter (Boardwalk Empire) and titled “Re-Entry.” It’s the first television series Halle Berry has starred in in decades!
At a recent CBS press event, Berry praised the look of the series and its film-like quality. “We got pretty doggone close to doing something that is on par with any film you’ll ever see,” Berry said, using Gravity as a benchmark. “I think we tried very hard to sort of hit that mark the best that we could. I think our space looks as good. I think our spaceship looks as good. There was no expense spared. CBS was very invested in making this show look really good and they have put a lot of money into making that a reality for us. So we have a lot of support from the network to hopefully keep turning out show after show that will be of feature film quality,” she said.
Here is how they describe the premiere episode:
Astronaut Molly Woods tries to reconnect with her husband, John, and son, Ethan, after returning from a 13-month solo mission in outer space. Molly’s mystifying experiences in space lead to events that will ultimately change the course of human history.
