Tuesday evening saw CBS announce that bubble dramas SEAL Team and Evil are relocating to Paramount+ for their upcoming fifth and second seasons, respectively.
“Our Studio and Network have a strong track record of developing high-quality dramas that have multiplatform success, and these series speak to that strength,” said George Cheeks, President & CEO of the CBS Entertainment Group. “These moves mark another example of how our linear and streaming ecosystem can strategically work together to maximize value for the content and benefit the series and its creators.”
Per Deadline, the plan is for SEAL Team to kick off its season on linear CBS with a run of four episodes before moving exclusively to the ViacomCBS streamer. Evil, meanwhile, will air its next season exclusively on Paramount+ at a date to be announced. Negotiations are still underway for Clarice to join the duo in moving from linear to streaming as ViacomCBS looks for buzzy, loud titles draw attention to Paramount+.
SEAL Team ranked among the most-watched CBS series this past season, averaging 6.5 million viewers. Evil had been softer in L+SD ratings, but it received significant acclaim upon its debut in fall 2019 and gained streaming traction during its one-year deal with Netflix.
