Morena Baccarin and Ryan Michelle Bathé star in NBC’s new show The Endgame which premieres tonight (February 21) at 10PM ET/PT.
A pulse-pounding high-stakes two-hander about Elena Federova, a recently captured international arms dealer and brilliant criminal mastermind who orchestrates a number of coordinated bank heists throughout New York City for a mysterious purpose. Her antagonist is Val Turner, the principled, relentless and socially outcast FBI agent who will stop at nothing to foil her ambitious plan. The gripping heist drama reveals how far some people will go for love, justice and the most valuable commodity in the world: the truth.
“I always love the idea of playing somebody that is a little out there,” Morena Baccarin, who previously has had such roles as Dr. Leslie Thompkins on Gotham and an alien queen on V, said about her new role of Elena when asked at a recent press tour. “This character is definitely not a caricature, but larger than life, and she has the high, high stakes that really attracted me to it. There was a lot of humor. The story was really fun and sort of a page-turner when I went over the script, and I love the idea of a show about two women that is not about it being about two women. It is a show that is centered around these people that happen to be women and that are only opposite sides of ‘good and bad,’ but really ultimately are after the same thing. ”
One thing one might notice about the Elena Federova character is the accent. “The accent, I think, is the biggest part that I’ve had to embrace about this character and work very hard on. It’s not an accent I’ve done before, and it’s been a lot of fun to create this part. We felt like it was very key to who this character was,” she says.
Costa Ronin, Jordan Johnson-Hinds, Kamal Bolden, Noah Bean and Mark Damon Espinoza also star in The Endgame and you can see photos from the first episode below.
