The CW has began dishing out series orders for next season, beginning its journey to 2017-18 by picking up Dynasty. The series has been a frontrunner for the duration of The CW’s development season, thanks to the auspices involved, the network’s desire to get back into the world of primetime soaps, and the appeal of premiering something with pre-sold audience awareness.
Executive produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (Gossip Girl), Dynasty tells the story of warring families the Colbys and the Carringtons, two broods whose affluence puts them in direct competition with one another. Whether they be worried about the size of their bank accounts of status of their children, the two consistently find themselves at odds. The series focuses on the rivalry between Fallon Carrington (Elizabeth Gillies), daughter of billionaire Blake (Grant Show), and Cristal (Nathalie Kelley), the much younger woman Blake gets involved with.
In addition to Gillies, Show, and Kelley, Dynasty stars Rafael de la Fuente (Empire), Robert Christopher Riley (Hit the Floor), Sam Adegoke (Murder in the First), and James Mackay (The Leftovers).
The CW will be revealing its fall 2017 schedule on Thursday, May 18th. You can check out what KSiteTV thinks could happen with their schedule here.
