TV Line is reporting that Devious Maids alum Brianna Brown has signed on to The CW’s planned reboot of Dynasty, which is currently in pilot stage. She’ll be playing emotionally fragile Claudia, who, in the original series, ended up marrying Blake Carrington’s gay son Steven.
Executive produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (Gossip Girl), Dynasty follows wealthy rivals the Colbys and the Carringtons, two families who spar over the status of their children and the fate of their considerable fortunes. The series will focus on the rivalry between charismatic tycoon Blake Carrington (Grant Show); his twenty-something daughter Fallon (Elizabeth Gillies), with whom he has a strained relationship; and Cristal (Nathalie Kelley), a much younger woman who falls into a relationship with Blake despite his daughter’s objections.
In addition to her role on the Lifetime soap, Brown has appeared on the likes of General Hospital, NCIS: New Orleans, and Revenge. She joins a cast that includes Robert Christopher Riley (Hit The Floor), Rafael de la Fuente (Empire), and Sam Adegoke (Switched at Birth).
Dynasty is one of six CW pilots in contention for next season, joining DC-verse entrant Black Lightning, fantasy drama Searchers, cancer dramedy Life Sentence, beauty pageant Insatiable, and military thriller Valor. Decisions as to which pilots make it to series and which current CW shows conclude this season should come down in early May.
