This weekend, BBC One and BBC America present “The Rings Of Akhaten,” a new Doctor Who story that takes The Doctor and Clara to a place that initially will remind you of the Mos Eisley Cantina. While there, Clara learns a little bit about the Doctor, and we learn a bit about Clara’s personal history as well. There’s also some singing, some sacrifice, and creatures who communicate by barking. (I guess the TARDIS translator can’t handle that?)
Here is how BBC America describes the episode, which airs on April 6:
The Rings of Akhaten – Episode 7
Written by Neil Cross (Mama, Luther) and directed by Farren Blackburn (Luther, The Fades)
Clara wants to see something awesome, so the Doctor whisks her off to the inhabited rings of the planet Akhaten, where the Festival of Offerings is in full swing. Clara meets the young Queen of Years as the pilgrims and natives ready for the ceremony. But something is stirring in the pyramid, and a sacrifice will be demanded. The Rings of Akhaten premieres Saturday, April 6, 8:00pm ET/PT as part of Supernatural Saturday.
They have also released some images, so you can get an idea of what this adventure will look like. Enjoy, and be sure to come by our Doctor Who forum if you want to talk about the show!
