Throughout his time working on the Cardenas case, Dirk has been apprehensive about the impact being a holistic detective has on other people. Though he’s the first to spout off about how everything is connected and how the universe ultimately works itself out, he’s become dismayed at the amount of carnage that surrounds him, at the fact that his occupation causes him to facilitate events that lead to people dying. It was enough for him to quit something that previously brought him quite a bit of joy, but the part of Dirk that will always love being a detective and that sees the value in what he adds to the universe refused to give up, pointing him in the right direction toward solving the Cardenas murders and figuring out who The Boy is.
On tonight’s episode of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, Dirk sprints off into the forests of Wendimoor holding onto the notion that he’s solved the case. After working out that there might be two boys considering the two different murals, he thinks he’s uncovered the connection between them, which should not only put the Cardenas case to rest, but bring peace to Wendimoor through the fulfilling of the prophecy. However, what Dirk doesn’t know is that he’s running right into the danger; between Suzie Boreton’s final evolution into Evil Queen status, the continued tension between the banged-up Dengdamoor and Trost factions, and the always vicious Kellum Knights, it’s tough out there for the citizens of Wendimoor, much less someone who just landed in the ancient land not long ago. But this Dirk is a Dirk on a mission and won’t let the pitfalls before him alter his course, not when he still has to find (and rescue) Todd and Amanda and not when resolution in the case is within grasping distance.
Elsewhere on Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, Panto offers Bart a better life in Wendimoor, while Farah attempts to regroup after her encounter with Priest and realizing that both Todd and Dirk are gone.
