Disney Channel actor Cameron Boyce of The Descendants and Jessie fame has passed away as a result of an ongoing medical condition. He was only 20 years old.
“It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron,” a spokesperson from his family said in a statement. “He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated. The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him.”
“We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother,” they continued.
Fans and co-stars have been sharing their tributes on social media, with an entire generation having “grown up” watching Boyce on various programs. While a lot of his work was Disney-related, he had branched out to some HBO projects that are coming out soon. Descendants 3, the third movie in the franchise, is due out on August 6; surely this will now be a less joyous event as the franchise has lost a beloved cast member. In that franchise, Cameron played Carlos, the son of 101 Dalmatians’ Cruella de Vil.
