The FOX pilot Delirium, which is about a heroine who is raised in a society where the ability to love is a flaw that needs to be removed, has found its series lead — and it’s a familiar name.
Emma Roberts — yes, niece of Julia and daughter of Eric Roberts, and star of several films including Scream 4 — will be playing Lena Holoway in the pilot for FOX, which is hoping for a spot on the Fall 2013 schedule. Many outlets including THR broke the news today.
This FOX pilot is based on a book series and, to me at least, sounds like it could be a young-skewing Buffy-like hit if done right. Casting Roberts is a fantastic start.

You had me at Emma Roberts
I’m really excited for this show now. After reading the first two books in the Delirium trilogy, I can say that I think Emma is a wonderful pick for Lena. In the book, Lena is described as being an entirely average human being, from her personality to her looks (besides the fact that she’s 5″2′). Although I think Emma’s looks are far above average, she has a certain personable quality about her that makes her seem relatable and dare I say it, average like the rest of us! Later on in the books, Lena sort of comes into her own and I believe Emma has the ability to convey this kind of strength as well. Good pick!
