Marvel has announced that Rosario Dawson joining the cast of their upcoming Netflix series based on the character Daredevil.
The show will be the first in a line of four Netflix original series that will lead into a Defenders team-up mini-series, and Charlie Cox will be playing Matt Murdock, the lead, with Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, The Kingpin.
Rosario Dawson (Clerks II, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For) will be playing “a dedicated young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell’s Kitchen brings Matt Murdock unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of this broken city,” as per the Marvel announcement.
Marvel isn’t saying who Dawson is playing, but some words from Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb might offer some hints. “Rosario Dawson is one the most charismatic, talented and powerful actresses in Hollywood, so she was always at the top of our list for Marvel’s Daredevil,” Loeb said. “Her role in the series is absolutely critical to Matt Murdock’s journey to become the hero we know as Daredevil.”
