Rebecca Bunch (Rachel Bloom) has everything she thought she could want in life. A successful Manhattan lawyer, she’s acquired the professional respect and financial stability that she always dreamed of; Rebecca is a far cry from the social outcast she was as a teenager, but the one thing missing from her seemingly perfect life is someone to share it with. For all the high-end apartments and designer clothing she’s managed to provide for herself, Rebecca faces a crippling loneliness and sense of unfulfillment each and every day, which explains why she’s so taken by a chance encounter with a former boyfriend. Taking it as a sign that things need to change in her life, Rebecca decides to move across the country in order to be with him and give herself the fresh start that she so desperately needs. But what happens when she finds out, after uprooting her entire life for someone she knew 10 years ago, that he has a girlfriend?
