Report: Constantine Season 1 Production To End At Episode 13

Deadline tonight is reporting that NBC’s DC Comics-based series Constantine will only shoot 13 episodes for Season One, finishing their run as soon as the 13 episodes are done.

Constantine - Season PilotEpisodes through the season’s sixteenth had been plotted, including a story involving Dr. Terence Thirteen that we can only hope would be saved for a second season.

Constantine’s ratings haven’t been the greatest, though being on a Friday night and following a weaker-than-before Grimm couldn’t have helped matters. NBC has a lot of shows set for midseason, including Hannibal which usually takes the Friday at 10PM slot. The most recent episode of the series, “Danse Vaudou,” had a significant jump in the ratings and the reviews for the series have been getting better and better.

Cast and crew seem to be confirming this report on Twitter. Actress Angelica Celaya tweeted that the final scene she shot involves Constantine, Zed, and The Spectre. We can’t have that being the last season, can we?

With all that said, Deadline notes that unlike other production ends, Constantine is still in contention for a second season. If you’re not watching the show already, check it out, because every extra viewer could help its chances.
