Community‘s fourth season finally has (another) airdate, according to co-star Yvette Nicole Brown: February 7 at 8:00PM.
Brown made the announcement on Twitter today, joking that “February 7th is #October19! Who knew?!” This is in reference to NBC pulling the show last minute from its original October 19 airdate, and the hilarious video parody the show’s cast did of the situation.
Scary hiatuses are something fans of Community know all too well, after a similar situation happened midseason last year. The news also comes on the same day Vulture reported that Canada was going to air Community in November…only to pull it from the schedule indefinitely on the same day.
So far it will be in the 8:00PM timeslot, replacing 30 Rock after its 13-episode season ends. It’s also worth noting that Up All Night will be on hiatus during this time, meaning there was a big Thursday night comedy gap to fill for mid-season. Also accounting for the comedy Animal Practice already being cancelled, the idea that NBC was keeping Community (and, yes, even Whitney) in its pocket in case of inevitable cancellations seems like it might have been a smart one (however frustrating the situation has been for the fans.)
UPDATE: This news has now been confirmed by NBC!
