CBS has given the green light to a third season of Code Black, renewing the medical drama at the last minute for the second consecutive year. The network has always been a fan of the show’s creative and after negotiating with co-producer ABC to lower the licensing fee, was able to get another batch of episodes to keep them in the medical drama business. There’s no word yet on whether Code Black will continue airing in the fall or if it’s been booted down to midseason duty.
From Michael Seitzman (Intelligence), Code Black follows the understaffed emergency room at Angels Memorial Hospital through the eyes of four first-year residents and their colleagues. The emergency room is headed by Dr. Leanne Rorish (Marcia Gay Harden), the authoritative attending physician known as “Daddy” to current and former residents.
In addition to Gay Harden, Code Black stars Rob Lowe (The Grinder), Luis Guzman (Traffic), Melanie Chandra (The Brink), William Allen Young (Moesha), and Boris Kodjoe (The Last Man on Earth).
The season finale of Code Black aired this past February on CBS. The network will be unveiling its plans for next season on Wednesday; you can check out what KSiteTV thought they could do here.
