Polly successfully served out her prison sentence for identity theft and went back to her real life with a solid support system. Jenn, Quiet Ann, and Desna might not fully understand the experience of being in prison or the difficulties that come with adjusting to a normal routine, but they’re fully there for Polly if she needs anything. While Polly might not be able to use their positive words and supportive gestures to support herself financially while paying restitution to her victims, just the knowledge that multiple people are out there rooting for her success, which not every ex-inmate has when they come out, is enough to keep her motivated to rebuild her life. But what happens when a reminder of her past comes knocking at the door?
On the next episode of Claws, Polly unexpectedly reconnects with a friend she used to run gold-digging scams with, causing her co-workers (and friends) to worry. Granted, Polly having a wide net of social connection is important for her reassimilation into society; isolating herself from the rest of the world would be terrible for her mental health and the more positive voices she has in her life, the more she’ll want to keep herself together. However, this might not be the positive voice that she needs going forward, not when Polly might be tempted to get back into the life that landed her behind bars. As important as social connection might be, it’s also pivotal for ex-inmates to break the patterns that led them to rock bottom, meaning that Polly’s choice in friends might need to be reevaluated, lest she find herself back in a place she thought she left behind. Yet with Jenn, Desna, Quiet Ann, and Virginia all preoccupied with their own personal difficulties, will there be anybody to keep Polly from spiraling?
Elsewhere on Claws, Bryce falls further under the control of the Dixie Mafia, while Desna struggles with the specter of Roller lingering on her subconscious and Quiet Ann’s relationship issues only get worse.
Claws airs Sundays at 9:00 on TNT.
How will Desna be able to exorcise the ghost of Roller that has started to torment her? Is there a realistic way out right now for Bryce and Jenn? Could Polly reconnecting with her former gold-digging friend trigger her desire to reoffend?
