Though the initial allure of a life of crime was that it allowed the type of upward mobility that just isn’t possible by doing nails, Desna quickly came to realize that she was made for this. She knew how to avoid dealing with the police, she was one of the few people who could talk (and get through) to Uncle Daddy, and her clean record allowed her the type of flexibility that others in her crew didn’t have. Embracing the power that came with Zlata’s arrival felt good, like she was finally stepping into a role she had always been destined to fill, but in allowing herself to revel in the spoils of being a boss, Desna took her eye off the ball.
On the next episode of Claws, Desna finds herself arrested, having lost the control she worked so hard to gain. While she can’t help but wonder if Ann is behind this given that Arlene was the arresting officer and the arrest came after Ann quit the crew, Desna has to leave those worries for if (and when) she’s granted her freedom again. Now she has to put everything she’s got into getting her charges dropped, which might indebt her to Zlata if the deal the Russian boss offers is accepted. Zlata knows that her business is better with Desna at the helm, so she has the motivation to use her connections (and manpower) to get the charged dropped, but what would Desna have to do in order to repay the favor? And even though Desna needs to get out if she wants to bring down Zlata, would she be willing to agree to anything Zlata asks as a condition of her release?
Elsewhere on Claws, Jennifer’s second chance with Bryce is rocked when her affair comes back to bite her, while Polly and Ann deal with unexpected betrayals from Ken and Arlene, respectively.
Claws airs Sundays at 9:00 on TNT.
