Lucy Barrett joins the cast of The CW’s Charmed with tonight’s (March 11) episode which serves as the Season 4 premiere of the series, and yesterday, KSiteTV participated in a roundtable discussion with actors Melonie Diaz and Sarah Jeffery, the two remaining original Charmed Ones.
“It’s kind of interesting. Every season has had a very different vibe, whether it’s noticeable to the audience or not, and I think it probably is,” Sarah Jeffery says. “Every season has felt like an evolution to get to where we are. It’s just been really fun to have a new, different energy come in, and something different to play with, to kind of change the dynamic of the sisters, because they are all so different.”
“Our new Charmed One played by Lucy Barrett is so different from from Macy’s character,” Sarah continues. “She brings a new energy that I think is really fun to play with.”
“Lucy Barrett… she’s awesome,” Melonie Diaz enthuses. “She’s Australian, and she’s really fun, and she’s positive and kind. It’s always nice as an actor to have a new sparring partner in scenes, and Season 4 of a show is a good time to do that, if you’re going to do it, to keep it fresh.”
“I think it’s good as for us as actors, but also as characters too, because with Macy’s death, they’re both really grieving, and I think the lightness of her character kind of helps them not get over it, but try their best to get over it,” she continues.
And how will this new Charmed One’s power complement the rest of the trio? “She is kind of learning her new power, and we are also learning it with her,” Melonie teases. “As you see the episodes, there are ways that she helps us that are really interesting and surprising, and it’s a really innovative way to deal with magic that the girls haven’t really dealt with before.”
