Believe is one of NBC’s more interesting sounding pilots in contention for the 2013-2014 TV season, and it comes from two big names — J.J. Abrams as well as Alfonso Cuarón (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban director), with Cuarón directing the pilot.
In the pilot, a girl named Bo has some special powers which will come to fruition in about seven years, and a man is sprung from prison to protect her from some people who are hunting her down.
Now, Deadline has revealed that the protector role has been filled, with Jake McLaughlin taking the role. McLaughlin’s previous credits include the Crash TV series as well as small roles in multiple Abrams productions. The next thing we’ll have to know, of course, is who is playing the girl… news that should probably come fairly soon.
