The 13-episode third season hasn’t even begun yet, but multiple outlets are reporting this morning that The CW has renewed Beauty and the Beast for a fourth season.
The series, which stars Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan, has been an international success with a loyal fan base. Season 3 will air in the summer as part of The CW’s summer initiative.
This also means that The CW has renewed nine shows for the 2015-2016 season, following the announcements made last month that brought back most of their schedule. Now, the only show with a fate unrevealed would be Hart of Dixie, which concludes its fourth season of 10 episodes this year.
The CW has also finally announced when Beauty and the Beast will premiere its third season – look for it May 21 at 8PM. The CW’s press release announcing the renewal includes a synopsis:
As season three begins, Cat (Kristin Kreuk) and Vincent (Jay Ryan) are able to focus on their love, finally free from Muirfield, manhunts and beasts.  However, that love will be tested as new and more dangerous threats await.  When they learn that innocent victims are being used to test the boundaries of the impossible, Cat and Vincent will uncover a deeper conspiracy, one which Vincent can fight only by turning to the beast he carries within.  But unleashing the beast will risk Vincent’s life – along with his and Cat’s love – as they struggle to build a normal life together.
A fourth season order means this iteration of BATB will outlast the 1980s version with Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton, which went for only three years.

Thank you Craig for covering our show, always in fairness, and always being such a good friend to Beasties! Much appreciated!
Saw the news over at TVLine – so excited! I’m happy to have BATB stick around as summer programming.
