With The CW renewing all five of their DC Comics properties and Batwoman most likely on the way, has the network reached a saturation point?
That was a question posed to The CW’s Mark Pedowitz yesterday at the Television Critics Association Press Tour, and in answering, it sounds as though some new things are on the horizon.
“We haven’t hit that saturation point in my mind,” Pedowitz said.
“I’m looking forward to Batwoman. Hopefully, in May we’ll be able to order it to series. I’m thrilled where we are with Arrow, Flash, Legends, Black Lightning, and Supergirl. So I think we have a lot to say. I think there’s more to be said,” he continued.
He did, however, talk about long-term plans as well. “Things will age, and we want to get the next generation of shows to keep this CW [DC] Universe going for as many years as possible,” he said.
Pedowitz was also asked about any conflict or crossover with the DC properties on the DC Universe service. Pedowitz assured that he knows if any of their developments will conflict, but pointed out that they are two different things.
“They have their world and their universe. We have our world and our universe. At this point there’s been no discussion whatsoever about worlds colliding or of characters appearing. But, you know, it sometimes can happen. And if it happens, it happens. But at this point in time, there’s been no discussion,” he said.
But then again… worlds will live, worlds will die, and the universe will never be the same, right?
