Sundance Now has set a Thursday, November 16th premiere for scripted original co-production Back.
Jan Diedrichsen, General Manager of SundanceTV and Sundance Now, commented, “Funny and clever with a strong emotional heart, Back is an auteur-driven series that brings together a unique pairing of some of today’s best comedic minds. It is the perfect entrée into comedy for Sundance Now, with its compelling yet relatable characters and hilarious storylines. We are sure that this laugh-out-loud, addictive comedy will have members binge-watching in one sitting.”
From Simon Blackwell (Veep) and directed by Ben Palmer (The Inbetweeners), Back tells the story of pub landlord Stephen (David Mitchell), who uses the death of his father as an opportunity to prove his worth to his family and take over the brood’s business. However, Stephens’s plan for redemption is interrupted by the return of Andrew (Robert Webb), a former foster child raised by his parents who Stephen thinks is out to steal his family, business, and life.
Back joins a growing slate of originals for SundanceTV’s streaming leg that include British mystery Riviera, crime drama Rillington Place, and thriller Public Enemy.
