FOX has made a script commitment plus penalty for Anthem, a drama with musical elements that hails from Smallville creators Alfred Gough & Miles Millar. They will be working with eOne, FOX Entertainment, and Scooter Braun’s SB Projects.
Here’s how Deadline describes the project:
Anthem is set in Hope, Indiana, a suburban city with nothing special about it, until a shocking tragedy strikes. As the survivors struggle to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives, they are brought together by the unlikeliest of heroes to form the unlikeliest of choirs. Always inspiring, sometimes heartbreaking, and ultimately redemptive, the series is a celebration of American resilience and showcases music’s power to reach across the divides of race, age, religion, and politics to heal.
From a guy who wears Hope on his chest to a town called Hope — this sounds good.
Gough and Millar finished production earlier this year on Into The Badlands; prior to that, they also spearheaded The Shannara Chronicles for MTV.

LOL. Being from the REAL Hope, Indiana, the “surprising little town” with no stop lights and less than 2,500 people, I find it comical that the writers didn’t do better research before drafting a script about a surburban city. We did have our day of fame with the classic Where’s the Beef commercial back in the 80s. Surprising!
