ABC has released the official trailer for upcoming suburbia comedy American Housewife and in it, we see the struggle that comes with blending in with those who stand out.

From Sarah Dunn (Bunheads), American Housewife tells the story of Katie Otto (Katy Mixon), an unapologetic suburban housewife used to being the third “fattest” of the wives in her upscale Connecticut town. It’s a position that allows her to differentiate herself from the “perfect” moms that surround her while not pushing her far away enough from the norm that she doesn’t turn into a social pariah; however, Katie’s stability comes under fire when her neighbor, the second “fattest” wife in Westport, moves away, thereby giving Katie her title and everything that comes along with it. Now Katie must do what she can to become number three once again and continue raising her flawed (but very loving) family in peace. Yet will Katie’s life change all that much now that she’s moved up the ranks with the town outsiders? How much pressure will she put herself under in order to further populate the town with people who push her back down the list of Westport’s “fattest” wives?

In addition to Mixon, American Housewife stars Diedrich Bader (Veep), Johnny Sequoyah (Believe), Daniel DiMaggio (Tales of Halloween), Julia Butters (Transparent), and Ali Wong (Black Box).

American Housewife is set to air Tuesdays at 8:30 this fall. You can check out ABC’s 2016-2017 schedule here.

Will you be watching American Housewife? Do you think this show will fill the Suburgatory void for ABC? Are you glad that American Housewife changed its name from The Second Fattest Wife in Westport, the title the show had throughout its development?
