Starz has released another look at upcoming drama American Gods and in it, we see a brewing war with major implications for the world at large.
Based on the Neil Gaiman novel of the same name and adapted for television by Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies) and Michael Green (Logan), American Gods follows lonely ex-con Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle), who, still reeling from the loss of his wife, becomes traveling partner to mysterious conman Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane). But in actuality, Mr. Wednesday is a powerful Old God looking to build an army to take on the New Gods, a group of deities who seduce believers with technology, money, and celebrity. Mr. Wednesday wants the Old Gods to once again be in control, but with the advancements the New Gods have made, is that even possible? And what happens with Shadow Moon figures out the real reason Mr. Wednesday wanted him to come on the cross-country journey?
In addition to Whittle and McShane, American Gods stars Emily Browning (Sucker Punch), Pablo Schreiber (Orange Is the New Black), Gillian Anderson (The X-Files), Kristin Chenoweth (GCB), and Jonathan Tucker (Kingdom). The series joins a scripted slate for Starz that includes Ash vs Evil Dead, Power, Survivor’s Remorse, Outlander, The Missing, and The Girlfriend Experience.
American Gods is set to premiere Sunday, April 30th at 9:00 on Starz. You can check out an additional look at American Gods here.
