THURSDAY
CRAIG:
SHILO: All American
ACTUAL SCHEDULE: 8:00 Supernatural; 9:00 Legacies
CRAIG: Keeping Supernatural where it is = great idea. Picking up Legacies after The Originals has been doing pretty well = also great. Putting Legacies on after Supernatural, which has a loud and very vocal fandom upset the Wayward Sisters wasn’t picked up yet this Julie Plec project came out of nowhere and turned out to be? Maybe not the best choice for a crossover audience. I think the time slot is a big vote of confidence for Plec’s series pitch, though.
SHILO: Interesting that they opted out of moving Supernatural despite the expansion. It’s always the first show that The CW looks to when they want to patch a hole or give a new show a decent partner, so could this be the end of its non-stop trip around the schedule? Even though series orders based on short presentations vs. pilots make me nervous, I can understand Legacies going given the good performance of The Originals this season and The CW’s relationship with Julie Plec, but yeah, the optics of pairing it with Supernatural aren’t great. Especially since The CW already has controversy brewing around its Charmed reboot, so they’re going into the fall with 2/3 of their new fall shows having some type of anti-fan base. While I don’t think Legacies will flop since Supernatural is still an okay lead-in, the 9:00 slot is wide open, and there’s still interest in the Plec-verse, I wonder how much this controversy will be impacting it come October.

Yeah, for CW, it’s all about the streaming deals and international audience, not Nielsen viewers. I do hope Sara Lance can show up on Arrow a few times now Quentin is gone and she’s met E-2 Laurel.
