TUESDAY
CRAIG:
SHILO:
ACTUAL SCHEDULE: 8:00 The Flash; 9:00 Black Lightning
CRAIG: At this rate The Flash might speed out its entire run on Tuesdays at 8, and that’s okay. It’s smart to have Black Lightning back in the Fall, to build any Netflix momentum, too. I do think Black Lightning would be better served elsewhere, but… I’ll get to that later. And I’m well aware that this is the schedule I “predicted.”
SHILO: This is a lineup that I understand more than I like. Black Lightning had to air with a lot of repeat lead-ins this season, so The CW clearly wants to give it a boost in the fall through post-Flash exposure. And where this lead-in upgrade comes along with the Netflix boom, which the show could very well experience given its positive word-of-mouth, solid ratings, and limited episode order, it could spell big things for both the network’s Tuesday average and their Tuesday affiliates. Which The CW is likely catering to with this schedule given that they need to prove that expanding was worth the trouble.
However, I still think that Black Lightning is the type of show that could’ve been a lead-in in its second season. Even with the number of repeat lead-ins, it still put up good numbers and if it gets even some of the Netflix boost that Riverdale got, it would’ve made a great launching pad for a new show.

Yeah, for CW, it’s all about the streaming deals and international audience, not Nielsen viewers. I do hope Sara Lance can show up on Arrow a few times now Quentin is gone and she’s met E-2 Laurel.
