666 Park Avenue and Charlie’s Angels vet Rachael Taylor has joined the cast of Marvel’s AKA Jessica Jones Netflix series.
She’ll be playing Jessica Jones’ best friend – Patricia “Trish” Walker – because “Patsy” is apparently not a cool enough name in 2015. In the comics Patsy Walker became a bit of a Hellcat.
(In the comics, Jessica Jones would hang out more with Carol Danvers, who may be a little busy with a Captain Marvel movie.)
“The character is a star and a powerhouse, and required an actress who is both,” showrunner Melissa Rosenberg said on Marvel.com. “Rachael is all that and more!”
“Rachael’s ability to embody a character that must balance both the darker and lighter elements of our series will provide a perfect emotional anchor for Jessica Jones,” said Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer/Marvel’s Head of Television. “Rachael blew us away with her grounded, humanizing take on Trish, adding yet another layer to the complex, emotional story we’re telling with this series.”
Rachael’s casting comes soon after the announcement that David Tennant would be playing Killgrave the Purple Man on the series.
