The Copeland family has managed to survive sea goblins, skin walkers, solar flares, a plague, a cult, bloodthirsty Japanese vine, and a dragon since the world came crashing down around them. From the moment the trumpets of the apocalypse blared across the sky, the family has constantly been under siege, their unfortunate situation forcing them to band together and do things they wouldn’t have thought possible. Though they’ve not ceased to be in danger from the time things fell apart, the circumstances have caused them to realize just how important one another is and how the family functions best when they’re all together.
On the next episode of Aftermath, the family is more separated than ever before, with Josh, Brianna, and Matt holed up in the avalanche shelter, Dana struggling to battle the elements in hopes of finding the shelter door, and Karen trapped after the eruption of Mt. Rainier. Karen might’ve initially went to the volcano to use the prayer wheel in order to halt the eruption, but she thought that this would be a way for her to atone for her actions at the camp and prove herself to her family. If she was able to be the hero as she was in the Air Force, she could show Dana, Brianna, Matt, and Josh that she was the same as she always was, that being in this type of high pressure situation hadn’t fundamentally altered her as a person. Instead, she wasn’t able to use the prayer wheel and doesn’t have any guide to help her find her family; rather, she’s now alone with her thoughts while she regroups, which might be the best thing considering what’s going on outside.
Elsewhere on Aftermath, Brianna loses hope the longer that Karen and Dana stay missing.
Aftermath airs Tuesdays at 10:00 on Syfy.
What will it take for Karen to save herself and escape the volcano? How will Dana make it past the elements and into the avalanche shelter? Can Josh and Matt keep Brianna from spiraling?
