The CW has released an official description for the second episode of The Secret Circle. The episode airs Sept. 22 – one week after the series premiere!
CASSIE ATTEMPTS TO HAVE A LIFE WITHOUT WITCHCRAFT BUT DIANA HAS DIFFERENT PLANS — In an effort to distance herself from the Circle and establish a normal teenage life in Chance Harbor, Cassie (Britt Robertson) befriends Sally Matthews (guest star Logan Browning), a non-witch. Concerned their powers are getting out of control, Diana (Shelley Hennig) pushes everyone to bind the Circle, but Faye (Phoebe Jane Tonkin) is thrilled with the increase in her powers and refuses to participate, while Melissa (Jessica Parker Kennedy) flirts with Nick (Louis Hunter) despite Faye’s warnings. Meanwhile, Adam (Thomas Dekker) fights his growing feelings for Cassie, but circumstances continue to throw them together, forcing Cassie to make a decision. Gale Harold, Natasha Henstridge and Ashley Crow also star. Liz Friedlander directed the episode written by Kevin Williamson & Andrew Miller (#102).

Why do these supernatural programmes always show what a burden having special powers is and how people just want to have a normal life? A normal life is the last thing any teenager wants – if you’d given me ultimate magical power, I’d have had a blast! I would like to have seen Cassie go completely power crazed, vaporising her enemies, making everything go her own way and then having to deal with the fallout. It would be a lot more believable and interesting to watch than the usual “I don’t want this responsibility (oh I do really)” teen angst!
I feel like this is not a new concept, but I like the cast. I saw the first episode (it is free on itunes) and I was rather impressed by them, it looks a lot better than Vamp Diaries, although they have the same author. (the vamp diaries were better books) I think what Emma is describing, the being power crazy and making mistakes, is more of a Disney channel concept, over using abilities and circumstances, like Hannah Montana, My Babysitters a Vampire and older sit coms like Sabrina the Teenage Which. Anyway it looks like fun!
